Williams Baptist University pitcher Ben Bledsoe earned American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after leading WBU to a win in its first game of the season.

Bledsoe tossed six shutout innings and fanned five in his first start of the season to lead WBU to a 3-0 win over Trinity Christian on Friday afternoon.  WBC went 1-2 vs. Trinity and returns home this week for a four game series against Blue Mountain Christian out of Mississippi.

Bledsoe is from Charleston Missouri and previously played for Shawnee CC.

Junior outfielder Gabe Reed of Ecclesia was named the Central Southwest Conference Player of the Week after collecting 10 hits in six games. He homered twice and has a batting average of .500 and an on base percentage of .600.

Reed is a native of Springdale and attended Har-Ber High School. Ecclesia is 4-2 on the season and will face Philander Smith College and Missouri Valley College this week.
