Lane Walton, a sophomore second baseman from Arkansas State, has been named the Sunbelt Conference Player of the Week. Walton hit .417 and hit three home runs as Arkansas State posted a season-opening series sweep of Stony Brook.

The Red Wolves are 3-1 on the season after dropping a close mid-week contest to Ole Miss. They play Eastern Illinois in Jonesboro this weekend.

Eli Hutcherson, a senior pitcher for Southern Arkansas, was named the Great American Conference’s pitcher of the week. Hutcherson, from Cabot, previously played at National Park College. He threw 7 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts in a win against Delta State.

The Muleriders will host Southern Nazarene University this weekend in Magnolia.
